About SSC CPO Pre Examination

The SSC CPO exam recruits candidates for various positions within the central police organizations and other security forces in India. The specific posts include:

  1. Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police:

Details of Each Post

1. Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police

  • Role: Law enforcement, maintaining public order, investigation of crimes, etc.
  • Eligibility: Bachelor's degree, physical standards as prescribed.

2. Sub-Inspector (SI) in CAPFs

  • Border Security Force (BSF):
    • Role: Guarding India’s borders, preventing transnational crimes, etc.
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF):
    • Role: Crowd control, counter-insurgency, disaster relief, etc.
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF):
    • Role: Guarding the Indo-China border, internal security duties, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
  2. Age Limit: Generally between 20 to 25 years, with age relaxation for reserved categories as per government norms.
  3. Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

Exam Pattern

The SSC CPO exam consists of multiple stages:

  1. Paper-I (Preliminary Exam):
    • Mode: Computer-based test
    • Sections: Four sections - General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension
    • Total Marks: 200 (50 marks for each section)
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET):
    • Candidates who qualify in Paper-I are called for PST/PET.
    • Various physical standards and endurance tests like running, long jump, high jump, etc., must be cleared.
  3. Paper-II (Main Exam):
    • Mode: Computer-based test
    • Section: English Language & Comprehension
    • Total Marks: 200
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
  4. Medical Examination:
    • Candidates who qualify in the PST/PET and Paper-II are called for a detailed medical examination to check their fitness.
  5. Document Verification:
    • Candidates who clear all the above stages are called for document verification.

Syllabus

  1. Paper-I:
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogy, coding-decoding, series, problem-solving, etc.
    • General Knowledge & General Awareness: Current affairs, history, geography, economic science, etc.
    • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, etc.
    • English Comprehension: Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, etc.
  2. Paper-II:
    • English Language & Comprehension: Error recognition, filling in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting misspelled words, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice, direct/indirect narration, etc.

Here are the detailed physical standards and endurance tests for male and female candidates applying for the SSC CPO exam:

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

  1. Height:
    • General, OBC, and SC candidates: 170 cm
    • Candidates belonging to hill areas and ST candidates: 162.5 cm
  2. Chest (Unexpanded/Expanded):
    • General, OBC, and SC candidates: 80 cm/85 cm (minimum expansion of 5 cm)
    • Candidates belonging to hill areas and ST candidates: 77 cm/82 cm (minimum expansion of 5 cm)

For Female Candidates

  1. Height:
    • General, OBC, and SC candidates: 157 cm
    • Candidates belonging to hill areas and ST candidates: 154 cm
  2. Chest: Not applicable

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

For Male Candidates

  1. Running:
    • 100 meters race in 16 seconds
    • 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes
  2. Long Jump:
    • 3.65 meters in 3 chances
  3. High Jump:
    • 1.2 meters in 3 chances
  4. Shot Put (16 lbs):
    • 4.5 meters in 3 chances

For Female Candidates

  1. Running:
    • 100 meters race in 18 seconds
    • 800 meters race in 4 minutes
  2. Long Jump:
    • 2.7 meters in 3 chances
  3. High Jump:
    • 0.9 meters in 3 chances

Medical Standards

  1. Eye Sight:
    • The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction, i.e., without wearing glasses.
  2. General Health:
    • Candidates must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.

Notes:

  • Physical standards and endurance tests are qualifying in nature.
  • The PET will not carry any marks but will be of qualifying/elimination nature.
  • Ex-servicemen applying for the posts of Sub-Inspector in CAPFs are not required to undergo PET. However, all ex-servicemen are required to pass the medical examination and meet the physical standards as prescribed.
  • Candidates who do not meet the physical standards will be disqualified from the recruitment process.
