About SSC CHSL Pre Examination

The SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit for various posts such as Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO). Here are the details for the SSC CHSL 2024 pre-examination:

SSC CHSL Tier-I Examination Structure

1. Tier-I (Preliminary Exam):

  • Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
  • Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions
  • Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe)
  • Sections and Marking:
    • General Intelligence: 25 questions, 50 marks
    • General Awareness: 25 questions, 50 marks
    • Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill): 25 questions, 50 marks
    • English Language (Basic Knowledge): 25 questions, 50 marks

Tier-I Syllabus

General Intelligence:

  • Topics include logical reasoning, semantic analogy, symbolic/number analogy, problem-solving, space orientation, Venn diagrams, and emotional intelligence.

General Awareness:

  • This section covers current events, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, and scientific research. Questions focus on India's and neighboring countries' socio-economic environment.

Quantitative Aptitude:

  • Topics include number systems, basic arithmetical operations, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, statistics, and probability.

English Language:

  • Topics include grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, error spotting, fill in the blanks, idioms & phrases, one-word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice, and direct/indirect narration.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

  • A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain countries to permanently settle in India.

Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years as of August 1, 2024. Age relaxations are applicable as per government norms.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. For DEO in certain departments, 12th standard with Mathematics is required.
